The Quality Manager at New Bern Mill, a key part of Global Cellulose Fibers Pulp Business, is responsible for ensuring deliverables comply with required standards. This role oversees the collection, measurement, analysis, and reporting of program performance metrics. The Quality Manager will coordinate with program and operations management to identify and implement corrective actions, support and validate process improvement initiatives, and serve as the management representative for the mill's ISO 9001 certification. The position reports to the Product Performance Manager. Responsibilities include training personnel on tools, fixtures, record management, and inspection/test protocols, performing inspection activities to supplement staffing, and reviewing inspection results from quality personnel. The role also involves leading the Quality Support Team to maximize engagement and results, assisting operations with root-cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions for non-conformances and customer complaints, and managing the identification, segregation, review, and disposition of non-conforming product. Additionally, the Quality Manager will maintain calibration records for test equipment, ensure quality-related procedures are in place and sustained, and coordinate internal and external test lab requirements. In conjunction with the Product Performance Manager, the role evaluates incoming customer complaints, completes disposition reports, and manages quarantine areas. The Quality Manager will understand customer requirements and how they are managed via Product Grade Specifications, support internal and external customer requirements, and collaborate with GCF corporate support on system-wide quality continuous improvement programs. This includes coordinating Quality Training (High Risk & Product Safety), supporting Quality Action reporting metrics, and assisting with root-cause analysis for internal and external non-conformances. The position also involves participating in design reviews, customer product trials, and qualification processes, providing input on product definitions and identifying opportunities for improvement. The Quality Manager will be the site coordinator for Quality Observations, Quality Learning Events, and the Pest Control program. The role requires willingness to travel up to 25% and provide support outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends, to meet customer needs 24/7. Key responsibilities also include serving as Management Representative for ISO 9001 certification, owning the Quality Manual, coordinating ISO 9001 audits, working with various departments to sustain audit processes, and leading quality-related meetings and management reviews.
