About The Position

This position will report to the Senior Manager, F-35 Delivery Operations, Quality & Mission Success (Q&MS) with responsibility for leading F-35 Product-Quality activities across three shifts to support the following build areas: Aircraft Finishing Facility (AFF), Acceptance Test Facility (ATF), Fuel Test Facility (FTF), Ground Operations, Flight Operations (including the Debrief process), DD-250 (artifact collection and aircraft preparation stage for sale to USG), and Ferry (delivery to customers around the Globe). Specific responsibilities include: Providing timely Quality Inspection, Analysis and Engineering capabilities to Production Delivery Operations. Primary Quality POC for Production Delivery Operations Management, and liaison between Production and multiple DCMA Teams to coordinate Mandatory Government Inspections throughout the build areas. Directly responsible for the Leadership and Management of Quality Engineers, Quality Analysts, Multi-Functional Quality Associate Managers, Multi-Functional Quality Supervisors, and Union-represented Quality Inspectors and Quality Control Field Operations Analysts. Will be expected to build and maintain professional working relationships with teams across the F-35 program including Production, DCMA, Program Management, Finance, HR, Engineering, Production Planning & Control (PP&C) and Q&MS colleagues. Will manage staffing and associated budget, year-round Performance Management processes, promotion and recognition programs, and disciplinary actions. Will manage the Training, Lost Tool/Item, Aircraft Survey and "F-35 Safe for Flight Release" programs, and build/publish Quality’s Mission Performance metrics. Provide support for Action Requests (AR) from field customers, Corrective Action Requests (CAR) from DCMA colleagues, and lead Quality Assurance Record (QAR) functions that address product nonconformances, Lost Tools/Items and FOD incidents. Identify and pursue opportunities for process and product improvement across build areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
  • 8+ years of recent aviation quality experience
  • Aircraft maintenance and sortie (flight) generation technical acumen
  • Professional experience leading multi-functional teams
  • Change Management, Conflict Resolution, Interpersonal Relationship and Team Building skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external Customers, Team Members, Senior Leadership, Colleagues and Peers
  • Must be a US Citizen for consideration due to security clearance requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with aviation Product-Quality methods in either quality or manufacturing roles
  • 8+ years of recent aviation flightline operations experience
  • Recent experience exercising Aircraft "Safe for Flight Release" or "Exceptional Release" certification
  • Experience managing FOD incident, Lost Tool/Item, mishap, and product nonconformance investigations
  • Ability to effectively navigate complex product and process-related requirements to validate nonconformances and develop corrective actions in coordination with DCMA and Production colleagues
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Systems, Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS) or similar Aircraft maintenance management Systems, Shop Floor Manager (SFM) or similar manufacturing system, Product Data Management (PDM) or similar engineering database, Quality Assurance Documentation System (QADS), APRISO, or similar Quality Management System
