About The Position

The quality inspector is responsible for making sure parts are inspected 100% to meet customer needs. This role involves interpreting casting blueprints and GD&T callouts, assisting with first article verification on CMM/layout table, and recommending changes to the machining process as required. The inspector will perform 100% inspection on castings with prior customer issues, complete machining process audits daily, and report findings to the Quality/Machine Shop Supervisor. Additionally, the role includes investigating suspect castings, creating scrap reports in MS Excel, and performing job functions to facilitate compliance with IATF 16949 (ISO/TS). Maintaining a professional and clean working area (5S), adhering to safety practices, and wearing appropriate PPE are also key responsibilities. Regular attendance and punctuality are expected, along with performing other duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school education.
  • Experience in quality control and CNC machining process.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment, physical, drug screen, and background check.
  • Must be able to pass medical clearance: asthma, COPD, breathing conditions, respiratory conditions, high blood pressure are potential causes of failing a medical clearance.
  • Basic knowledge on blueprint reading and ductile iron castings.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good math and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CMM and manual measuring instruments.
  • Bilingual – English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Making sure parts are inspected 100% to meet customer needs.

  • Inspecting machined castings using measuring instruments (e.g. height gauge, calipers, micrometer, gages etc.).
  • Performing 100% inspection on castings with prior customer issues.
  • Completing machining process audits daily.
  • Reporting findings to Quality/Machine Shop Supervisor.
  • Investigating suspect castings and creating scrap reports on MS Excel.
  • Performing job functions to facilitate compliance with IATF 16949 (ISO/TS).
  • Maintaining a professional and clean working area (5S).
  • Adhering to company’s safety practices and wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Maintaining regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision.
