About The Position

The Quality Lead will be responsible for providing daily assignments to QA personnel, training and mentoring them on problem-solving tools and techniques. This role involves processing credit request data, issuing customer credits, and learning/operating inspection equipment. The Quality Lead will review customer returned products to determine root causes of defects, work closely with production to provide technical feedback, and document activities appropriately. The position requires utilizing statistical analysis software, presenting results formally, and assisting process engineers with line modifications to improve efficiency and yields. Additionally, the Quality Lead will participate in new product testing and development, record product test data, and attend QA multi-Site team meetings. Safety is paramount, requiring the use of personal protective equipment and maintaining an organized work area. The role may involve performing other duties as instructed to balance workloads or meet production needs.

Requirements

  • Three years of manufacturing experience in a production or quality related field
  • Minimum of one year leadership experience
  • Proficient computer skills with strong Microsoft application skills
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills with the ability to draft technical reports
  • Detail oriented, can properly manage and organize large databases
  • Ability to understand and apply the use of measuring instruments
  • Basic mathematical skills related to measurements
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders in English
  • Ability to lift and move glass at various heights (up to 40 lbs.) on a routine basis
  • Knowledge of production tools and equipment
  • Requires regular, in-person attendance at the facility
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner
  • Travel on an occasional basis to a supplier’s location, job site, or Cardinal production facility
  • Ability to take supervision and follow all policies and procedures
  • Ability to work as part of a team including but not limited to members of management, employees throughout Cardinal and vendor partnerships
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in decision making, ideas, and all aspects relating to the SBLG team, Cardinal Glass Industries, and other company relationships.
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, but still able to recognize and support the organization’s mission

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience in a quality assurance/control role
  • Military technical role with honorable discharge
  • 2 years of experience in a laboratory or fabrication setting
  • 4-year STEM degree
  • 1-2 years’ experience in data collection/organization, test method validation, process trend analysis and statistical process control methods

Responsibilities

  • Provide QA personnel daily assignments
  • Train and mentor QA personnel on problem solving tools and techniques
  • Process credit request data and issue customer credits in a timely manner
  • Learn and operate inspection equipment
  • Review customer returned products for defects and other issues to determine root cause
  • Work closely with production to provide day-to-day technical feedback on parts being produced
  • Document activities as appropriate - i.e. digital logbook, inspection walk throughs, etc.
  • Utilize statistical analysis software and present results in formal settings
  • Aid process engineers in suggesting line modifications to increase machine efficiency and/or improve manufacturing yields
  • Assist in all phases of new product testing and development as needed
  • Record product test data and provide summary notes on results
  • Participate at the QA multi-Site team meeting
  • Performs duties in a safe manner using all required personal protective equipment
  • Support safety by maintaining a neat and organized work area encouraging 5s through the cleanliness at the line, sweeping and clearing glass as necessary
  • May perform other duties or work in other areas as instructed to balance workloads or meet production needs
