Requirements

  • Two- or four-year degree in Engineering, Quality, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in steel manufacturing
  • Minimum 5 years of Quality experience, including customer specifications, testing requirements, and compliance standards
  • Ability to develop and manage a team.
  • Strong understanding of steel manufacturing processes (melting, casting, rolling, finishing, or related operations)
  • Knowledge of steel grades, product applications, and end-use requirements
  • Experience with lab equipment, testing processes, and troubleshooting quality-related issues
  • Proven experience with failure analysis and leading corrective actions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis for trend reporting
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present data and findings to leadership

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and maintain quality-related standard operating procedures, including process control standards, testing procedures, and job aids
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, internal standards, and testing requirements
  • Perform routine and unscheduled audits of processes and workforce adherence to quality standards
  • Lead and support failure analysis investigations and corrective action implementation (QIS methodology)
  • Track and analyze quality performance metrics, identify trends, and communicate findings to leadership
  • Maintain and manage training matrices to ensure proper training on quality standards and procedures
  • Coach operators, technicians, and supervisors on quality expectations, testing methods, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and laboratory teams to improve product quality and process consistency
  • Support initiatives related to quality improvement, cost control, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Assist in sustaining and improving business system standards
