About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join our team in Mobile, AL. This role involves supervising the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring accurate and timely performance of laboratory tests and results reporting. The supervisor will directly manage, train, and mentor laboratory personnel, monitor daily workflow, and schedule assay coverage. Responsibilities also include researching and resolving production errors, driving continuous process improvements, ensuring equipment maintenance through Quality Control, preparing Quality Assurance records, evaluating new process improvements, conducting regular coaching and feedback sessions with direct reports, performing bench work as needed to maintain proficiency, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The role also encompasses administering policies and procedures, processing payroll, maintaining personnel files, and performing other administrative duties as required.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 5 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 6 months or more of supervising or leading a team
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day to day operations of the Department/Lab Name department
  • Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department
  • Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage
  • Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
  • Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
  • Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
  • Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control
  • Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
  • Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations
  • Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
  • Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations
  • Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations
  • Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
  • Process and maintain payroll and personnel files
  • Perform administrative duties as needed
