Location: On-site in Fort Collins, CO Term: Summer 2026 Job Summary: The Quality Intern (Engineer) supports the Quality Engineer and Quality team with day-to-day quality assurance activities in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role assists with first article inspections, validations, investigations, and data collection while operating programmed visual inspection scopes and executing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming under supervision, with no independent programming, disposition, or approval authority. The position also provides support for basic CAD modeling, 3D printing, and validation of inspection fixtures and gauges, ensuring all designs and revisions are properly documented.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an associate or bachelor's degree in engineering or related STEM field.
  • Coursework or foundational knowledge in quality systems, engineering fundamentals, manufacturing processes, or design principles.
  • Interest in quality engineering, regulated manufacturing environments, and continuous improvement.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings, procedures, and work instructions in a regulated environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to develop hands-on troubleshooting, inspection skills, and validation skills.
  • Experience with metrology tools and basic inspection methods.
  • CAD proficiency required.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and design for manufacturability principles.
  • Good organizational skills, time management, and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to support inspection, validation, investigation, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Comfortable working in a production/manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Injection molding experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with basic problem-solving methods (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of risk management and quality tools such as FMEA is a plus.
  • Familiarity with measurement systems such as vision inspection equipment, optical comparators, or CMM operation is a plus.
  • SolidWorks and 3D printing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with data collection, analysis, and reporting for quality or process improvement is a plus.

Responsibilities
