About The Position

As a Quality Inspector in Hyundai Steel’s steel manufacturing plant in Ellabell, Georgia, you will help ensure steel products meet industry standards, customer specifications, and internal quality control procedures. The facility receives steel and aluminum coils and processes them through slitting and/or blanking to customer-specified dimensions for automobile parts. You will inspect raw materials, in-process components, and finished products; identify and document defects or non-conformities; and maintain accurate quality records. You will work with production and quality control colleagues to resolve quality issues and improve processes, while following safety protocols in the manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Strong understanding of steel manufacturing processes, metallurgy, and quality control principles.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to detect defects or deviations through visual inspection and measurement techniques.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and testing results to assess product quality and conformance.
Effective verbal and written communication skills for conveying findings, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and documenting quality information accurately.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving quality issues and implementing preventive measures.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with relevant industry standards and specifications such as ASTM, ASME, and AISI.
Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.

Responsibilities

Monitor manufacturing stages to identify deviations from established quality standards.
Inspect finished steel products for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and adherence to customer specifications.
Identify and document defects, flaws, or imperfections using visual inspections, precision measurement tools, and specialized testing equipment.
Maintain accurate inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal quality management systems.
Collaborate with production and quality control team members to address quality issues, implement corrective actions, and continuously improve processes.
Follow safety protocols, procedures, and regulations while inspecting products and working in the manufacturing environment.
