About The Position

Pro QC International is seeking a Quality Inspector with Class 4 Laser Safety expertise for a 1099 contract role in Greenville, SC. This role involves ensuring compliance with laser safety standards, inspecting enclosures, verifying safety systems, and confirming administrative controls. The inspector will act as a liaison between operators, management, and regulatory bodies, with the authority to halt operations if unsafe conditions are identified. The project duration is TBD, with current project hours being standard production hours (8 hours per day). As a 1099 contractor, project schedules may vary. The role requires travel to Woodruff, South Carolina, and nearby areas.

Requirements

• Laser Safety Officer; a formally designated inspector under ANSI Z136.1 standards.
• Technical or scientific background (physics, optics, engineering, or occupational safety).
• Formal training in laser safety principles, hazard evaluation, and control measures.
• Certifications: Completion of ANSI Z136.1 laser safety training.
• Familiarity with OSHA requirements and institutional policies.
• Documented competency in evaluating Class 4 laser hazards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect light tight enclosures to ensure containment of radiation to Class 1 levels.
• Verify interlocks, shutters, barriers, and warning systems are functional.
• Check administrative controls: signage, restricted access, written procedures, and personnel training.
• Confirm PPE availability and use, especially laser protective eyewear.
• Maintain inspection records and corrective action reports.
• Empowered to halt laser operations if unsafe conditions are found.
• Acts as the compliance link between operators, management, and regulatory bodies.
