Quality Inspector at New Bedford MA 1099 Contractor
About The Position
We are seeking a Quality Inspector for a 1099 contract role in New Bedford, MA. This position involves conducting Pre-Shipment Inspections (PSI) for consumer goods, with a specific focus on a project involving 10,000 units per size across two clasp sizes. The inspection will follow a detailed protocol to address issues with clasp retraction, including random sampling, a 50-cycle test for each sampled clasp, and identification of major and minor defects. The role requires the ability to complete inspection reports accurately and within deadlines. This is an ongoing, part-time contract role with a current project duration of once a week.
Requirements
- Minimum 2-3 years conducting Pre-Shipment Inspections (PSI) on consumer goods.
- Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) experience with tools, hardware, and/or related manufacturing industry.
- Familiar with AQL sampling.
- Able to complete inspection reports within time deadline.
- Experience with tools and hardware.
- Strong hands-on experience with visual, dimensional, and packaging inspections.
- Proficient in professional inspection reporting (photos, findings, AQL results).
- Must be able to travel to New Bedford, MA 02745 and nearby areas.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Pre-Shipment Inspections (PSI) on 10,000 units per size for two clasp sizes.
- Follow a specific inspection protocol: randomly select cartons/boxes for sampling.
- Perform a 50-cycle test on each sampled clasp by fully opening the trigger and allowing it to retract.
- Identify and document major defects, including clasps that are stuck open, do not retract within 50 cycles, do not fully close, or leave a visible gap.
- Identify and document minor defects, such as a noticeable pause before retracting or a sticky/not smooth spring.
- Utilize AQL sampling methods (AQL: 1.5).
- Complete inspection reports, including photos, findings, and AQL results, within the time deadline.
