About The Position

Nammo Composition Solutions, an engineering and composite manufacturing company with over 30 years of operations in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a qualified professional to fill the role of Full-Time Quality Technician. The selected candidate will be responsible for visual inspection and monitoring of in-house operations. This role also involves supporting Quality Engineering and participating in the continuous improvement philosophy. The individual must be able to effectively advise management on product conformance and capability issues, providing fact-based recommendations for improvement and problem resolution. This position is located in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a current opening on the 2nd Shift, 4PM - 2:30AM, Monday-Thursday.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic understanding of dimensioning.
  • Trained on basic skills including: Calipers, height gauges, OD/ID mics, Vernier scale, Romer Arm Usage, Optical Comparators, Pi Tapes.
  • Can identify and accurately write up non-conformance reports with QE guidance, when needed.
  • Can perform program specific inspection plans with minimal supervision after training.
  • Capable of utilizing Excel, Word, SmarTeam, Epicor, and Outlook per job requirements.
  • 5+ years’ relevant experience (for Quality Technician II).
  • A.S in mechanical, manufacturing engineering, or extensive Romer/Faro Arm CMM programming/Inspection a plus (for Quality Technician II).
  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) (for Quality Technician II).
  • Can utilize the following items without supervision, but may require assistance in troubleshooting: Calipers, height gauges, OD/ID mics, Vernier scale, Romer Arm Usage, Optical Comparators, Pi Tapes (for Quality Technician II).
  • Can identify and accurately write up non-conformance reports (for Quality Technician II).
  • Can perform program specific inspection plans with no supervision (for Quality Technician II).
  • Capable of utilizing Excel, Word, SmarTeam, Epicor, and Outlook per job requirements (for Quality Technician II).
  • Able to train other Quality Technicians on a small number of skills and inspection plans (for Quality Technician II).
  • 10+ years’ relevant experience (for Quality Technician III).
  • A.S in mechanical, manufacturing engineering, or extensive Romer/Faro Arm CMM programming/Inspection a plus (for Quality Technician III).
  • In depth understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) (for Quality Technician III).
  • Can utilize the following items without supervision, and perform trouble shooting tasks: Calipers, height gauges, OD/ID mics, Vernier scale, Romer Arm Usage, Optical Comparators, Pi Tapes (for Quality Technician III).
  • Can identify and accurately write up non-conformance reports (for Quality Technician III).
  • Can perform program specific inspection plans with no supervision, and do basic troubleshooting tasks, when needed, for issues that arise (for Quality Technician III).
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, SmarTeam, Epicor, and Outlook per job requirements (for Quality Technician III).
  • Able to train other Quality Technicians on a wide array of skills and inspection plans (for Quality Technician III).
  • Can fill in for various programs at a Tech III level (for Quality Technician III).

Responsibilities

  • Reviews prescribed specifications and standards to detect errors.
  • Identify non-conformances based on in-process and final product inspections in accordance with inspection plans.
  • Assist quality engineering in planning and conducting first article inspections in accordance with AS9102.
  • Support Quality Engineering in the review and generation of manufacturing/inspection documentation.
  • Support quality and product engineers to resolve problem issues and improve quality.
  • Work with supplier quality to facilitate corrective and preventive action relative to supplier quality problems found at incoming inspection.
  • Recommend updates in inspection and test techniques to improve productivity/accuracy and eliminate inconsistencies through development of standards of acceptability.
  • Other duties as assigned.
