About The Position

The Quality Inspector Level 3 Hull And Machinery uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies, or mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds. This role utilizes various measuring devices and involves accepting, rejecting, or reworking defective or malfunctioning units or systems. The inspector works from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawings, or inspection checklists. They may also monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures and perform line clearances after each lot to ensure all materials from the previous lot have been removed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years additional education and/or related experience; OR Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 3 years of related experience.
  • May require certification.

  • Able to work indoors/outdoors year round in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work at extreme heights or small confined spaces.
  • Able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb.
  • 2 years prior experience in one of the following major shipbuilding crafts: Shipfitting, Welding, Sheetmetal, Machinery, Joiner and Quality.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect visually in-process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies or mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds.
  • Use various measuring devices.
  • Accept, reject, or rework defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Work from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists.
  • Perform line clearances after each lot to ensure all materials from the previous lot have been removed.
