About The Position

As a Quality Inspector III in Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division, you’ll play a vital role in driving product excellence by investigating defects, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality standards are met across production and support First of Kind (FOK) initiatives. Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized work instructions to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Technical knowledge in product assembly, testing, or manufacturing processes.
  • Experience performing a variety of tasks across multiple operational areas or work zones.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with torque measurement equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with In Process Validation (IPV) test equipment.
  • Experience within the power systems or heavy equipment industry.
  • Assembly experience across multiple value streams and commodities.
  • Ability to read blueprints, including understanding EC (Engineering Changes) levels and their impact.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate product defects reported through warranty claims and internal quality systems (AQE – All Quality Events), including issues identified across multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Inspect all in-house product as part of containment of quality events.
  • Document and monitor the status of all contained units, ensuring rework and repair activities are completed and appropriately recorded.
  • Communicate daily with the Quality Supervisor regarding containment status for assigned defects.
  • Support material disposition for failure analysis activities.
  • Represent Quality in Griffin First of Kind (FOK) process, including validating quality system readiness.
  • Participate in weekly Material Review Board meetings to evaluate and disposition nonconforming materials.
  • Perform inspections and quality audits in both indoor and outdoor manufacturing environments, including exposure to changing temperatures and occasional inclement weather conditions.
  • Any other duties assigned by leadership.
