About The Position

The Quality Inspector I utilizes Quality Plans and Work Instructions to perform mechanical inspection and product performance testing on components, assemblies, and/or finished goods to ensure conformance to specification. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to comprehend work instructions.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to enter data or process information.
  • Knowledge of common measurement tools and machinery.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and demonstrate professional behavior.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform data entry, view electronic procedures, and complete training courses.
  • Ability to use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles)
  • Ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Ability to accurately perform basic calculations.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of control charts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collects product samples and prepares them for laboratory testing or inspection within a single quality department area (e.g., component inspection, finished goods, warranty, receiving inspection).
  • Inspects and functionally tests materials, parts, subassemblies, finished goods and packaging.
  • Compares inspection results to specifications/product requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Notifies Supervisors about products or materials with potential problems.
  • Enters data, maintains records, and routes reports using appropriate software.
  • Communicates with internal customers to exchange information regarding products, materials, and services to support improvements and root-cause analysis.
  • Counts or estimates quantities of materials, parts, and products.
  • Compares product labels, tags, or tickets, shipping manifests, purchase orders, and bills of lading to verify accuracy of shipment contents, quality specifications, and weights.
  • Performs inventory transactions in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, when applicable.
  • Where appropriate, confirm packaging specifications are met, and re-package materials as necessary to meet specifications.
  • Keeps the work area clean and orderly.
  • May be required to work overtime.
