About The Position

Relativity Space is building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. The Quality team is focused on embedding quality into every part of the design and production process for Terran R. This role is a 1st shift position with a standard schedule of 5:00 AM-3:30 PM PT, Monday through Friday, with a baseline expectation of a 50-hour workweek, which may include occasional overtime as needed to meet operational goals. You will lead a specialized team of Quality Inspectors and CMM Programmers responsible for the dimensional integrity of flight hardware, including large-scale 3D-printed structures and precision-machined propulsion components. You will bridge the gap between engineering design and physical reality, ensuring that Relativity’s innovative manufacturing methods meet rigorous aerospace standards.

  • Advanced experience with managing Material Review Board (MRB) processes.
  • Expert knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) with the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and navigate CAD models (Siemens NX preferred).
  • Ability to support a 50-hour baseline workweek with flexibility for overtime to meet launch milestones, along with the ability to stand for extended periods on the production floor, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a high-growth aerospace startup environment.
  • Familiarity with digital factory tools like Infor LN, MES, or JIRA.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certifications applied to an assembly line.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the CMM inspection team, managing schedules, timecards, and performance reviews to meet high-rate production goals.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for CMM programming (Verisurf and PC-DMIS) and precision metrology (Romer arms, laser trackers).
  • Ensure all inspections conform to AS9100 and ISO9001 standards, overseeing the completion of detailed reports such as AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Partner with Additive Manufacturing, Propulsion, and Machine Shop teams to resolve complex non-conformances and provide feedback on hardware quality.
  • Identify and implement automated inspection strategies and digital metrology tools to reduce setup times and increase throughput.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and calibration for all quality lab assets, including CMMs and hand-held precision tools.
