About The Position

The Quality Inspection Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance functions for production-related activities, including the direction of Quality Inspectors. This role involves assisting in the administration, implementation, and maintenance of regulatory quality requirements and standards for production departments. The supervisor will monitor performance against quality standards, collaborate with production foremen and supervisors to address issues, and perform non-destructive tests such as visual inspections (VT), magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT), ultrasonic (UT), and radiographic testing (RT). The position requires performing inspections to maintain schedules, identifying and implementing projects to improve production quality, and assisting in the development and implementation of quality metrics. Support may also be provided to Quality Technicians as needed. This description is not exhaustive, and the employee will perform other assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • NDT qualifications required: Visual Inspection Level I &II (SNT-TC-1A Level II).
  • High School diploma / GED required.
  • Minimum of at least 2 years of experience in shipbuilding.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Standing: 30% of the time, sitting: 30% of the time, walking about 40% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 10 lbs for 5% of the working day.
  • 18 years of age or older at time of application
  • Able to provide proof of US Person Status
  • No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
  • No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen
  • Willing to submit to a background check

Nice To Haves

  • NDT qualifications strongly preferred: Ultrasonic (UT) and radiographic testing (RT) Level I&II (SNT-TC-1A Level II).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the direction of Quality Inspectors and all quality assurance functions for production related activities.
  • Assist in auditing; the administration, including implementation and maintenance to regulatory quality requirements & standards for production departments.
  • Monitoring performance according to quality standards, working with production foreman and supervisors to communicate and address the issues.
  • Performing non destructive tests, including visual inspections (VT) magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT), ultrasonic (UT) and radiographic testing (RT).
  • This position is required to perform inspections, to maintain schedule.
  • Assist in identifying & implementing projects that improve overall production quality.
  • Assist in the development & implementation of quality metrics.
  • Assist Quality Technicians, as required to support production.
