About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Pediatrics has an exciting opportunity for a full time Quality Improvement Specialist 1 to work in Miami, FL. This role coordinates the project charter, definition of the scope and deliverables of the project in collaboration with leadership, process owners and operational team members. It oversees the project lifecycle from request, assessment, planning, execution, monitoring and optimization. The Specialist manages and coordinates the efforts of the departments by fostering a culture of shared accountability, communicating from the top down and bottom up regarding team responsibilities, target dates, project status, resource needs and provides general project communication as needed. This role fosters clear communication and synchronizes the activities of multiple projects and teams, ensuring adherence to quality and data governance standards. Presents recommendations and strategies to decision makers that are systematic, scalable; incorporates business process management, incorporates technology solutions and often impacts organizational culture and clinical transformation. Provides support for data analytics and identification of improvement opportunities. Works closely with the Patient Safety & Quality leadership team. Provides support and expertise to perform general functions for the department as requested, on an individual basis or as a team member. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data.
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
  • Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

  • Form an improvement team that tests change ideas, collects data and shares learning.
  • Share learning with your improvement team.
  • Share learning with other participants in the Learning & Action Network as well as participate in events.
  • Orchestrate team activities & lead meetings.
  • Compile and submit data monthly.
  • Teach and support team Ql work.
  • Lead improvement project efforts at institution.
  • Assist team leader in meetings.
  • Analyze data.
  • Report to NICHQ our findings and outcomes in CoLab.
  • Contribute to the quarterly summary of participation in policy development recommendations and progress of recommendations (SNAQ report).
  • Identify needed improvements and remove barriers.
  • Come up with intervention methods to resolve issues between pharmacy/insurance and patients (i.e. pharmacy cards).
  • Meet goal: decrease medication gaps and improve patient compliance.
