About The Position

As Quality Engineering Manager, you will own quality strategy across Comfrt’s Storefront, Internal Apps, and Mobile apps. You will lead and develop a team of QA engineers and partner with engineering, product, and design leaders to define and improve the company’s approach to quality. The role builds on an existing QA foundation and combines technical leadership with hands-on guidance across React-based web frontends, React Native mobile apps, and a serverless microservices backend on AWS.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Software Testing within a web, mobile, or digital product environment.
  • 2+ years of experience leading, managing, or formally mentoring QA engineers.
  • Demonstrated experience defining QA strategy and maturing QA processes.
  • Strong technical background, with proficiency in TypeScript and the ability to read, review, and write code alongside engineers.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation using Playwright and TypeScript, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of React and how modern web applications are built, rendered, and deployed.
  • Hands-on experience testing headless or composable eCommerce architectures; experience limited to Liquid theme-based storefronts is not a substitute.
  • Basic understanding of AWS and serverless, microservices-based architectures.
  • Solid understanding of manual testing methodologies and test case design.
  • Experience writing and executing API tests, including REST and GraphQL.
  • Experience with test management platforms and bug tracking tools.
  • Experience with accessibility testing against WCAG 2.2 AA.
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate test development and QA workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence engineering, product, and design leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or maturing a QA function at a high-growth company.
  • Experience testing Shopify-powered eCommerce experiences.
  • Experience testing React Native applications and with mobile automation frameworks such as Maestro, Detox, or Appium.
  • Experience testing gamified product features such as streaks, progression systems, or reward logic.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into deployment workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive QA strategy across Storefront, Internal Apps, and Mobile pods, documenting standards, processes, and ownership.
  • Establish quality standards, including release readiness criteria, severity guidelines, and test coverage expectations.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and design leaders to embed quality into planning, development, and release.
  • Define and report on quality metrics and use them to guide priorities.
  • Manage, coach, and develop QA engineers.
  • Mentor the team on test design, automation, accessibility, and effective use of AI tools.
  • Evaluate and select QA tooling, including test management and bug tracking platforms, and lead its rollout.
  • Own test planning, test case, and regression processes across all pods.
  • Contribute to and review automated test suites using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Guide API and integration testing for the serverless backend on AWS.
  • Partner with engineers on testing the headless, React-based storefront and web applications.
  • Drive accessibility testing against WCAG 2.2 AA across web and mobile.
  • Step in on complex or high-risk testing and release validation as needed.
