About The Position

The North America Propulsions System Transmission, Drive line and Gear reducers organization (PTDR) is currently seeking a Quality & Warranty Acceleration Engineering team lead (WAT Engineering Manager) to join the PTDR team at the Quality Engineering Center (QEC) in Auburn Hills, MI. The WAT Engineering lead is responsible for leading a team of WAT engineering specialists that investigate and work on PTDR quality issues as they come through warranty, or the plants, or supplier quality issues, etc. The incumbent will be the business supervisor and lead the decision-making team assigned to warranty and quality issues. They will be responsible, along with other team members involved, for triaging new issues, root cause analysis, and quickly and effectively identifying immediate and permanent corrective actions. The incumbent will also be responsible to create Lessons Learned and to complete a read-across with other programs/applications to ensure the same issues do not repeat in the future. The incumbent will report to PTDR management and should have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for automotive and powertrain development, and quality systems and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of science degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in Product Engineering/ automotive Transmission and/ or driveline design, releasing, development, validation, calibration, manufacturing, etc.
  • Experienced in Quality/ Warranty issues resolution techniques/ approaches.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication/presentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, specifically MS Excel and Project
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and understanding full details on drawings

Responsibilities

  • Manage/ lead the WAT engineering team on all quality/ warranty issues, and to bring these issues into closure with a robust resolution and in a timely matter.
  • Act as the single point of contact for all PTDR Quality & Warranty Engineering activities.
  • Serve as the technical interface between PTDR and other cross-functional teams in the extended Quality organization, Control Tower and Field Action, etc.
  • Represent PTDR at reviews with Stellantis senior management.
  • Review & approve all PTDR Quality/ Warranty investigations and approve Root Cause Analysis plan (RCA), Immediate Corrective Actions (ICA), Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA), and the service action plan for every issue.
  • Be responsible for meeting or exceeding PTDR Quality & Warranty Targets provided by Stellantis senior management.
  • Develop and maintain lessons learned for the PTDR organization, as a result of quality issues resolutions.
  • Promote intellectual property development and updates (patents, EBPs, etc.) as a result of issues resolutions, product innovation, lessons learned and read across through other similar products.
  • Provide oversight of the entire TRDL quality and Warranty initiatives.
  • Support Manufacturing and Supplier Quality teams in their quality issues investigation, and work effectively with other engineering areas within PTDR.
  • Be the overall owner of the “Improvement List” to address JD Power, CQI & 3MIS.
  • Be empowered to work directly with the VP of PTDR and PTDR senior leadership team, technical fellows and specialists, Center of expertise groups (COE), DREs, etc. on Quality and Warranty issues and resolutions, and work assignments.
  • Lead the Engineering WAT team through reviews with the Stellantis CEO, CQO, and other SVPs, VPs, and senior management.
  • Accelerate quality/ warranty issues resolution through deep collaboration between Quality, Engineering and other functions inside and outside Stellantis.
  • Support quality and field action personnel in warranty claim analysis, claim triage, and early detection.
  • Support GIM/ S²IRIUS (Stellantis Global Issue Management System) issues creation and handover with correct team members assignments.
  • Create 1-pager per approved template, and ensure proper documentations are included and attached to every GIM/ S²IRIUS.
  • Perform GIMs/ S²IRIUS root cause analysis/ identification.
  • Request access to company-owned vehicles as they come to Stellantis Quality Engineering Center (QEC) for repair, or through employees Incident disposition system (IDS) entries for issues analysis.
  • Monitor GIMs/ S²IRIUS resolution progress within the Time to Fix metrics (TTF).
  • Track GIMs/ S²IRIUS resolutions in the vehicle assembly plant and Aftersales.
  • Assess the robustness of the issues (ICA & PCA) in the Stellantis vehicle/ Supplier plants and feasibility of the service solution, physically reviewing the product/process changes, internal metrics and control plan update.
  • Monitor clean point effectiveness (painter chart).
  • Initiate and ensure “service actions” are completed for every GIM/ S²IRIUS.
  • Create lessons learned for standards update to protect future launches and support read across.
  • Support KPI reviews and forecast updates.
  • Support field early warranty (FEW) reviews (opening & closing markets) for programs they are responsible for.
  • Support “short loop” quality reviews with plant(s).
  • Support Control Tower Steering Committee and reviews as needed for GIMs escalations.
