About The Position

The Quality Engineer Co-op is a support role responsible for planning, facilitating, and stabilizing continuous improvements within a production sector, specifically a manufacturing Value Stream. This role creates and sustains improvement processes, metrics, and tools, supporting key deliverables in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost reduction, growth, and innovation. The co-op will support cross-functional continuous improvement projects in all aspects of the Value Stream, focusing on production processes, work methods, waste reduction, and problem-solving through lean principles, tools, concepts, and methodologies.

Requirements

  • Current student enrolled in Engineering program
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Ability to lead small project groups
  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, Visio, Power Point
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support cross-functional continuous improvement projects in all aspects of the Value Stream.
  • Focus continually on production processes, work methods, waste reduction, and problem-solving methods through lean principles, tools, concepts, and methodologies.
  • Assist in continuous improvement projects.
  • Provide day-to-day support activities including inspection, sorting, fixture design, and assembly.
  • Assist in measurement system analysis on various gauges.
  • Review and analyze technical data, drawings, and work instructions to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Assist with valve and/or test stand troubleshooting.
  • Assist Quality Engineers with reviews of performance data, in evaluation and validation of supplier change requests, and driving improvements in suppliers' delivered quality for new and existing products.
  • Review returned material and verify customer complaints through root cause analysis.
  • Assist with test data entry and collection, and statistical analysis.
  • Create and modify existing systems that track metrics.
  • Create and improve documentation such as control plans, FMEAs, Work Instructions (WI), and process flow.
  • Participate in team meetings with Quality Engineers, supporting various tasks.
  • Support implementation of continuous improvement activities in the production environment.
  • Assist in closing open findings from internal/customer audits.
  • Perform other essential and related peripheral duties as may be assigned.
