About The Position

Our site in Colorado Springs, CO - Rockrimmon is seeking a Quality Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be full time, 6 months in duration. As a Quality Engineering Co-Op, you will work alongside experienced Quality Engineers supporting our growing Injection Molding operations in Colorado Springs. This hands-on role provides exposure to manufacturing, quality systems, process validation, metrology, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data.
  • Interest in manufacturing, quality engineering, plastics processing, injection molding, medical device, semiconductor, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Must be a currently enrolled student
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June
  • Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to statistical analysis, quality tools, or engineering laboratory environments is preferred.
  • Experience with CAD, Minitab, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, quality systems, or metrology equipment is a plus.
  • Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial focus)
  • Graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029

Responsibilities

  • Support Quality Engineers with process validations, including IQ/OQ/PQ activities for new products, tooling, and equipment.
  • Analyze manufacturing and quality data to identify trends, improve process capability, and support defect reduction efforts.
  • Assist with nonconformance investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Help develop, maintain, and improve quality documentation, including control plans, inspection procedures, sampling plans, and PFMEAs.
  • Participate in audits, process reviews, and quality system compliance activities to support ISO 9001 and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Metrology, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve process performance.
  • Support new product introductions and tooling transfers by collecting, organizing, and analyzing production and validation data.
  • Utilize metrology equipment and statistical tools to evaluate product and process performance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects focused on quality, efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Present technical findings and project updates to engineering and operational teams.
