About The Position

Advantech Industries, Inc. is a family-owned manufacturing company based in Rochester, New York, specializing in CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly services. The company, founded in 2002, serves multiple industries, including defense, medical, and aerospace, and operates out of a 250,000-square-foot facility. We are looking for a Quality Engineer to monitor and improve the quality of our operational processes and outputs. The Quality Engineer’s responsibilities include designing quality standards, equipment, process, and products, developing quality control systems, and determining corrective actions. You will also work with managers and supervisors to implement quality measures. A successful Quality Engineer should have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to ensure that processes and products consistently meet established quality standards.

Requirements

  • Hands on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and testing methodologies.
  • In-depth understanding of technical documentation.
  • In-depth understanding of machining and sheet metal fabrication including print reading and GD&T.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Solid computer and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to adhere to deadlines and the ability to be flexible.
  • Superior communication skills and ability to develop teamwork among staff.
  • Holds oneself accountable for doing whatever is needed to meet the commitments made around project outcomes.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a similar role.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certification in Quality Assurance is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer quality specification/PO flow downs, codes and technical design documents/drawings to provide an accurate inspection plan.
  • Participate in contract review meetings to initiate and advise on inspection plans.
  • Utilize HQA Inspection Manager software to bubble drawings, create FAI reports, and identify critical dimensions to be verified and recorded on an in-process inspection report.
  • Develop quality plans for manufacturing based on customer RFQ.
  • Collaborate with operations managers to develop and implement controls and improvements.
  • Ensure that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot product or production issues.
  • Develop corrective actions, solutions, and improvements.
  • Monitor and analyze quality performance.
  • Update our Quality Management System (QMS) with incidents, fixes and improvements.
  • Manage calibration system in Inspection Manager Software.
  • Assign gauging to check critical dimensions.
  • Work with customers regarding quality questions and issues.
