About The Position

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer will work autonomously with occasional guidance from supervision, possessing skills in Product and Process Problem Solving and actively participating in continuous improvement related to Safety, Quality, and Innovation. The role is situated in a manufacturing facility that fosters creativity and initiative, supporting a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and interpersonal skills, enabling them to thrive in a supportive team setting. As part of the Quality Engineering Team, this role directly supports a highly automated, three-shift manufacturing operation, with a central focus on Quality for Global Propulsion System (GPS) throughout the entire development process, manufacturing, and field support. This position collaborates closely with Manufacturing, Process, Product, Mechanical, and Controls Engineering to ensure the manufacture of quality products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field(s).
  • Experience with Quality System (PPAP, AIAG, APQP, OR equivalent systems)
  • Ability to understand and assess complex Engineering issues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office Suite
  • Familiar with Minitab or other statistical software (QDAS highly preferred!)
  • Knowledge of common problem-solving methodologies (Six-Sigma, RedX, Shainin, 5-Why, Fishbone, PDCA)
  • Entry-level understanding and proficiency in 3D CAD environments (Solidworks)

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering solutions that result in Continuous Improvement in the areas of Safety, Uptime, and Quality
  • Use data to identify process conditions and develop solutions
  • Early issue identification, problem-solving, and corrective action tracking and resolution
  • Summarize and evaluate reject and defect data to drive continuous improvement
  • Provide statistical analysis of manufacturing process data
  • Act as a critical role in change management to assure no effect on product quality
  • Verify compliance to quality requirements and procedures
  • Communicate and coordinate information to and from internal and external customers
  • Collaborate cross functionally to develop creative solutions
  • Remain flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution
  • Support corporate and local Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) goals related to Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment
