Your Role: As the Quality Engineering Specialist, you will be leading the next generation precursor Thin Films materials to enable the innovation to the digital age. This position is centered in Carlsbad, CA, USA. EMD Electronics is one of the leading Thin Films Material Suppliers in the world contributing to Semiconductor fabrication customers ultimately leading to IoT and AI devices. In this role, you will lead and solve some of the top semiconductor manufacturers’ most complex issues in the race to extending Moore’s Law. Lead teams in the execution and quality of thin films materials to major semiconductor customers globally. Lead cross-functional teams in resolving manufacturing, characterization, scale-up, and technology challenges presented during the synthesis or purification processes or the containers that are required for customer use. Lead investigations by managing cross-functional teams in identification of root-cause and implementation of preventative/corrective actions or mitigation actions to ensure world-class quality. Be the voice of the customer to the site in all aspects of operations ranging from production, characterization, packaging, and shipping. Support the Site Quality manager in maintaining Thin Films quality performance and efforts toward continuous improvement. Ensure discipline to process controls tools (e.g. SPC reviews, Line walks, High impact Corrective Actions) to maintain and improve site quality, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and overall contain and reduce variation. Identify and enable automation activities to make data driven decisions faster to improve visibility to previously unknown variability. Act as a key voting member to disposition discrepant material, identifying gaps in the process, and managing cross-functional teams to implement controls to prevent/reduce variation Lead, engage, and support audits of the sites processing and quality systems Contribute to the advancement of global quality related projects and process improvements with Lean and/or Six Sigma or data-driven process optimization projects. Who You Are:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Scientific field (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Physics, etc.) or an Engineering field (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years’ experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, control engineering, analytical chemist, or semiconductor fabrication.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and work collaboratively with multiple internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in contributing to the advancement of projects, project teams, and process improvements
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma projects or in data-driven process optimization projects
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple activities and projects
  • Moderate to Advanced Statistical knowledge (SPC, t-test, ANOVA, single and multivariate statistical modelling)
  • Experience in quality tools for problem solving (5Whys, process segmentation, Model Based Problem Solving), FMEAs, continuous improvement projects (CIP), management of change, and document control systems
