About The Position

Hudson Technologies in Ormond Beach, Florida is seeking a foundational Quality Engineer to support our quality program. In this role, you will transition our shop floor from informal checks to a structured, data-driven Quality Management System (QMS). Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role is responsible for supporting quality assurance initiatives, APQP and PPAP activities, metrology planning, process improvement projects, and systems compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and ISO 13485 quality management systems. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial engineer to evaluate, adapt, and formalize existing quality processes, establishing company-wide inspection standards, and instill a lasting culture of quality. The ideal candidate will have experience in a precision manufacturing environment and possess strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and quality systems expertise. This position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with production, engineering, suppliers, and customers to drive quality improvements and operational excellence. The QA Engineer will hold a critical role in the launch of new products by ensuring compliance and readiness by employing Advanced Product Quality Planning techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering.
  • 5 years of industry experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years as Quality Engineer.
  • Working knowledge of metals: GD&T, machining, forming, and metal finishes.
  • Strong understanding of basic manual inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks and AutoCAD), MS Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, ERP systems (Infor Visual preferred), and have a general computer aptitude.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Fostering Teamwork & Diversity; specifically, through proactively soliciting all facts and opinions from team members, creating a constructive and open environment for sharing data.
  • Proficient in creation and maintenance of Controlled Documents.
  • Familiar with program management approaches.
  • US Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical quality support to customers, suppliers, and internal production teams.
  • Perform activities of an Internal auditor and create appropriate reports per procedures.
  • Communication of issues, containment activity, root cause analysis, corrective action, and effectiveness reviews.
  • Define control plans for incoming material, in-process, and final gate inspection workflows; and ensure these requirements flow down to suppliers.
  • PFMEA
  • For manufactured and vendor supplied products and services.
  • Train employees on quality procedures, inspection requirements, and quality management system expectations.
  • Monitor and improve production quality metrics. The candidate will make appropriate charts for display, actively participate in periodic GEMBA meetings.
  • Recommend improvements.
  • Implement improvements within Quality group.
  • Validate improvement activities in a timely manner for all areas.
  • Identify, purchase, and log necessary measurement gauges and testing equipment.
  • Act as a Quality representative on the Engineering Change, Process Change, and MRB Boards.
  • Lead cultural transformation of quality standards throughout the Production and Quality organization, by adhering to our Quality Management System and through reinforcement of our core values of respect, integrity, and accountability.
  • Assists in the maintenance of Policy, Procedure, Work Instructions, and other Documentation for the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Inspection Fixture Design.
