About The Position

Join Emerson as a Quality Engineer and lead quality assurance efforts at our Aiken, SC manufacturing facility, where we produce components for solenoid valves and pneumatic actuators. The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, qualifying, and continuously improving manufacturing and quality processes within our fabrication and assembly operations. This role drives product and process excellence through data-driving decision making, structured problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration to improve key performance indicators for the site and drive overall customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering).
  • Ability to understand blueprints and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in Quality or related
  • Prior experience with CNC machining and valve assembly processes, including statistical process control (SPC)
  • Certifications in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and/or ASQ
  • Knowledge of nuclear standard 10 CFR 50 Appendix B manufacturing requirements
  • Proficient in structured problem-solving methodologies and data analytics.
  • Proven success in driving continuous improvement of quality inspection processes

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support and guidance to fabrication, assembly, and inspection personnel.
  • Performs technical investigations and prepares troubleshooting reports.
  • Collaborates with product, assembly and fabrication engineering in developing and improving test/inspection methods, procedures and operation sheets to maintain and improve product appraisal efficiency.
  • Plans and directs APQP/PPAP activities and develops required documentation.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of ISO 9000 quality systems and nuclear standards, i.e., 10 CFR 50 and NQA-1.
  • Performs contract review of government, nuclear and Navy Level 1 order requirements.
  • Provides audit and inspection oversight for all assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Contributes as an active member of the internal audit team.
  • Participates in customer, agency and supplier audits.
  • Provides technical and developmental support to assigned suppliers and commodities.
  • Participates in localization and new product development projects.
  • Supports Valve Service in evaluation of nuclear and commercial material returns.
