About The Position

The Quality Engineer role requires strong knowledge of relevant software, quality assurance methods and tools, and manufacturing processes. Experience with various materials and understanding how they react to machining is crucial for part outcomes. The role involves providing input for new gage/fixture designs relative to GD&T and CMM measurement accessibility, and working collaboratively in a team atmosphere to ensure smooth operations.

  • Knowledge of CMM software.
  • Ability to mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, and fixtures.

Responsibilities

  • Creating, testing, and maintaining inspection programs for CMM machines in accordance with production standards.
  • Performing quality inspection checks on first piece, hourly, final, and last piece production.
  • Conducting backward recall on non-conforming product and implementing non-conforming product hold tags.
  • Participating in the APQP process for gage and fixture design, and developing quick change processes for CMMs.
  • Performing Gauge Calibration and Gage R&R.
  • Maintaining safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintaining equipment by completing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
  • Maintaining continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Supporting day-to-day quality and production deliverables and initiatives.
  • Leading teams to support continuous improvement efforts (5S, internal audits, organizational knowledge).
  • Documenting testing and root cause analysis for internal or external problems.
  • Creating Work Instructions, providing feedback, and reviewing Manufacturing issues with QM/ME on solutions.
  • Following quality standards to ensure parts meet customer and company standards.
  • Working pieces on CMM machine using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Accomplishing organizational goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value.
