About The Position
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer I is responsible for supporting product quality and manufacturing performance through data analysis, problem-solving, and execution of quality system processes. This role contributes to improving product reliability, reducing defects, and ensuring compliance with quality standards through hands-on execution and collaboration with cross-functional teams. This position is part of the Quality Engineering team located in Ames, Iowa, and will be on-site.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a related technical field
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
- Familiarity with statistical analysis or problem-solving tools
Nice To Haves
- Experience in quality, engineering, or manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or FDA 21 CFR 820)
Responsibilities
- Perform data analysis and problem-solving activities to support customer complaints and internal nonconformances
- Support design of experiments (DOE) and validation activities for product and process improvements
- Maintain change orders for products and procedures
- Support validation of materials, processes, and equipment
- Contribute to Quality Management System (QMS) processes, including CAPA, SCAR, document control, and internal audits
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support continuous improvement
