About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join the Lighting Division Focal Point Team in Chicago, IL. Looking for a Quality Engineer with high aptitude and energy to implement and execute quality system best practices in the manufacturing, supplier, and new product development (NPD) processes. This position will help drive improvement to products and processes by working with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and field service. The person who holds this position must have abilities and experience with quality management systems, lean methodology, problem solving, technical documents, metrology, and auditing. This position reports to the Quality Engineering Lead.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • 3-5 years of experience and achievement working for a manufacturing organization as a quality engineer. Similar roles and work experience will be considered.
  • Computer proficiency - Knowledge with MS Suite products.
  • Working knowledge and experience with quality system and process standards; including ISO9001.
  • Familiarity with 7QC tools and quality methodologies (e.g. Ishikawa, Pareto, FMEA, PPAP, SPC).
  • Blueprint and specification reading. Use of measurement tools and inspection methods.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve quality control systems and procedures for lighting products and components.
  • Review and update controlled documents with internal departments.
  • Monitor operations, supplier, and customer metrics. Take containment and corrective actions based on nonconformance events and trends in metrics.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions related to internal, supplier, and customer nonconformances.
  • Support internal quality management audits as well as corporate social responsibility audits.
  • Monitor supplier capability and compliance by conducting in-person and virtual audits.
  • Review first article and PPAP data from suppliers and work with engineering to determine compliance or corrective action.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams on process optimization and cost reduction kaizens.
