We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join the team at our Norridge, IL location. Please note, this is a full-time, 1st shift position (7am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday). General Summary Accountable for overall quality of product and that part quality meets customer specification.

Requirements

  • Minimum of B.S. in Engineering or equivalent, with quality as a minor or minimum 8 years of quality control experience
  • Effectively communicate with all levels in an organization, suppliers, and customers
  • Proficient with the use of: Micrometers, Calipers, height stands, and indicators, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and CMM capability
  • Proficient with the use of Mini-tab software or other SPC software equivalent
  • Knowledgeable with Six Sigma practices and statistical mathematics

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintenance of the quality system
  • Assist in developing all aspects of PPAP documentation
  • Develop inspection and work instructions for CMM
  • Assist with part inspection including FAI layout and in-process using all types of mechanical inspection
  • Prepare preliminary inspection reports
  • Perform process capability studies from CMM data
  • Develop SPC charting per CPI/customer requirements and monitor data on CMM
  • QC print review including requesting and reviewing final part 3D model, GD&T on the print and obtaining 3D printed part
  • Support the development of corrective and preventative actions for rejected material and customer returns
  • Control of non-conforming material per QSP-871-000
  • Develop preventative action plan for CMM Maintenance
  • Assist with quality system training as directed by Director of Quality
  • Conduct training on root cause analysis, ISIR, Minitab, quality alert, and GD&T, as well as the use of various inspection equipment including CMM
  • Work with other employees to resolve process and supplier related issues
  • Backup to quality department for Phase Product Rollout (PPR)
  • Backup CMM Programmer
  • Run parts for SPC for PPAP submissions when needed
  • Assist in CMM fixture design
  • Run parts requiring full PPAP inspection when needed
  • Run ongoing production parts on CMM when needed
