About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opening for a Quality Engineer at our Coatesville, PA facility. As a Quality Engineer, you’ll be responsible for supporting daily quality activities including reviewing customer specifications, order setup, product inspection and testing, verifying product compliance to standards, product / process improvement, and ensuring quality system compliance. Ideal candidates will have prior steel industry experience, be self-motivated, and thrive in a fast-paced work environment with complex operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Metallurgy or related field
  • Possess the ability to work effectively within a team environment, utilizing clear and effective communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and data analysis skills
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively within a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing processes
  • Experience with steel production is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Provide metallurgical and technical support for product and process improvement through data analysis, problem solving, expertise in area of responsibility, metallurgical and mechanical concepts, and knowledge of customer operations and markets
  • Monitor product and process variability and performance to standard
  • Meet with representatives of customers and/or processors to provide innovative solutions to quality issues and provide customers with timely warranty solutions
  • Recommend new technology to satisfy changing customer and marketplace demands
  • Participate in management of material flow through the disposition of distressed material in accordance with customer and internal standards and business imperatives
  • Participate in the order design & order entry systems – approving incoming new inquiries and orders, setting product capabilities, changing/improving existing order process designs, creating/following product trials
  • Provide technical solutions to internal and external customers by understanding manufacturing and product capability
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and other technical resources to drive results
  • Communicate with upstream and downstream operations and non-Cleveland-Cliff’s contractors to coordinate work, deliveries, and service
  • Various other duties, as needed, to support the business
