About The Position

Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Quality Engineer Manager. This role is based at our Orchard Park, NY facility. The QE Manager establishes stakeholder relationships that foster a positive partnership, facilitate resolution of customer issues, and provide technical support during the life cycle of assigned products. Offers quality leadership, coaching, support, and knowledge of quality philosophies and disciplines to internal and external customers in the coordination of quality improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field from an accredited institution
  • 7 years of manufacturing experience
  • 1 year of management, supervision, or team leadership experience in a Quality, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related field.
  • All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Orchard Park, NY to be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in problem solving techniques (5 Why, 8D, A3).
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Knowledge of Quality Control systems and techniques, such as AS9100, ISO 9001, including statistical quality control and inspection and investigation techniques.
  • Experienced in use of continuous improvement lean manufacturing principles and scrap reduction tools (5S+, Value Stream Mapping, PDCA, Standard Work, and Poka-Yoke).
  • Experienced in use of AIAG quality tools to reduce variability and mitigate risk (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, and SPC).
  • FAA/EASA knowledge.
  • Ability to interface at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • High level of computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Administrative skills required to guide product quality, employee involvement, and productivity programs.
  • Highly developed human relations, communications, and internal consulting skills necessary to establish and maintain effective work relationships with the various plant functions, customer and supplier personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and mentor the quality team by providing mentoring and training support for current and new Quality Engineers and Quality Engineering Technicians, as applicable.
  • Deploy significant quality expertise to provide tangible benefit to the organization (product cost, quality, metrics etc.).
  • Member of the Quality Leadership Team which set site vision, mission, and objectives for quality.
  • Maintain performance management Key Performance Indicators and ensure active participation of the team in daily metric boards and participate in performance management meetings.
  • Lead, liaise with, and coordinate with other quality team members to ensure that all relevant quality metrics are recorded, utilized, and appropriate to their purpose.
  • Assist with the preparation of the information needed for the monthly site quality council review.
  • Lead cross-functional corrective action and/or continuous improvement teams in significant quality activities or programs.
  • Use the latest quality, problem solving techniques, and best working practices (PDCA/DMAIC, SPC, Process mapping, Cause and Effect Diagrams, 5 whys, Fishbone, A3, 8D, etc.) to assist with standardization and improvements.
  • Responsible to manage Corrective Action Board activities for assigned IPT.
  • Take part in continuous improvement by participating in Root Cause Problem Solving projects.
  • Leadership in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and its deployment in the assigned team (IPT- value stream).
  • Support Failure Mode avoidance activities (PFMEA/ DFMEA etc.).
  • Ensure proper handling of non-conformities and customer complaints, assuring that the root causes are clearly defined and that corrective actions are put in place and sustainable.
  • Identify, develop, and implement systems that will assure product conformance to specifications.
  • Work within the organization to execute changes and improvements to the quality management system.
