About The Position

Palomar Products, a wholly owned subsidiary of TransDigm Group, specializes in secure communication systems for airborne and naval military applications. The Quality Engineer III reports to the Quality Manager and provides program support to ensure products and processes comply with the Quality Manual, contract and statement-of-work requirements, and related technical documents. The role plans, evaluates, and monitors the quality system and develops, applies, and maintains quality systems for manufacturing processes, materials, specifications, products, policies, and procedures. The engineer investigates and implements continuous improvements across the organization, including leading improvement events. The role requires advanced electronics knowledge, the ability to inspect for counterfeit electronic components, and an understanding of testing used to mitigate counterfeit material. The engineer works with program management, engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues through root-cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, documentation, and reporting. The position also leads technical evaluations, analysis, data acquisition, cross-functional problem-solving events, and application of lean practices in aerospace manufacturing.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical discipline.
At least 10 years of experience in a quality assurance engineering role.
Advanced knowledge of Quality Management Systems, manufacturing processes, and industry workmanship standards.
Advanced knowledge of AS9100, AS9101, AS9102, DO-178, and DO-254.
Ability to interpret contractual and specification requirements.
In-depth understanding of technical documentation.
Advanced computer skills, including statistical and data analysis and report writing.
Good organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
Self-motivated team leader able to lead continuous-improvement activities.
Ability to work well with employees and customers.
Extensive knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, production processes.
Working knowledge of FRACAS.
Understanding of counterfeit electronic components, including IDEA-STD-1010.
Experience with inspection tools and methods.
Experience developing quality assurance processes in a manufacturing and/or product development environment.
Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate company needs.
Must be a U.S. citizen; U.S. operations may employ only U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR.
Some travel may be required (25%).

ASQ certifications.

Responsibilities

Improve customer satisfaction and eliminate customer returns through continuous-improvement techniques.
Lead root-cause and corrective-action investigations in response to customer issues or corrective-action requests.
Lead corrective and preventive action programs to eliminate non-conformances and reduce scrap and rework costs.
Apply advanced quality and Six Sigma methods to improve quality and manufacturing processes, including by holding improvement events.
Lead quality engineering reviews of new-product design and development documentation for compliance with requirements.
Communicate significant issues and developments identified during quality activities and recommend process improvements to management.
Prepare and present technical and program information to team members and management.
Maintain a current and complete First Article Inspection database.
Process non-conforming product through the Material Review Board process and conduct corrective-action follow-up.
Lead internal product, process, and QMS audits and facilitate corrective actions with responsible departments.
Coordinate source inspections with customer and government representatives.
Maintain working knowledge of government and industry quality standards.
Lead the ESD program.
Develop and update quality procedures and work instructions, and train appropriate personnel.
Coordinate with suppliers and customers on quality trends, performance, and corrective actions.
Initiate programs to enhance supplier performance.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
