About The Position

Atkore is seeking a Quality Engineer III to join their manufacturing team in Harvey, IL. This role will report to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for supporting Quality Assurance within Atkore, including ISO requirements & compliance, and supplier quality programs. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of related experience as a Senior Quality Engineer or equivalent in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with metallurgical experience being a plus. A bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or a related field is required. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’ degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field required.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Senior Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of inspection, control methods, techniques and documentation.
  • Knowledge of statistical theory and principles, SPC and tools.
  • Interpersonal skills suitable for interfacing with various levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Metallurgical experience is a plus.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is preferred.
  • Tube mill and/or metallurgical experience is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt (preferred).
  • Lead Auditor certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001: 2015 preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of lean manufacturing practices preferred.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques preferred.
  • Knowledge of nuclear regulations 10 CFR 2 and 10 CFR 50 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure clarity and consistency of the ISO requirements across all Atkore facilities.
  • Conduct second party audits at all Atkore facilities to ensure ISO compliance.
  • Support and lead Quality Assurance to meet the demands of customer driven quality improvements and the expanding needs of a growing company.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and lead the resolution and prevention of customer complaints.
  • Support and provide leadership for the Supplier Quality program across Atkore.
  • Perform Quality systems audits of suppliers as needed.
  • Manage UL / ISO / Nuclear accreditations.
  • Ensure effective manufacturing process control programs that maintain focus on prevention of customer quality issues.
  • Support plant cost reductions and process improvement projects through various Quality tools such as FMEA, process capability, Gage R&R, SPC, pareto analysis and other six sigma/lean tools.
  • Write protocols and perform validations of new/improved materials and processes.
  • Manage and ensure the proper lab coverage and training for both the Quality Techs and Sr. Quality Techs.
  • Continuously improve Quality Assurance capabilities and effectiveness by setting and achieving specified goals/metrics.
