About The Position

The Quality Engineer II evaluates internal systems and leads improvement initiatives to enhance Business Unit quality performance, including forming and guiding Quality Task Forces for targeted projects. Assesses the adequacy of process controls and system improvements to prevent misprocessing and determines appropriate involvement of external customers in product quality issues. Identifies and coordinates key stakeholders to review material quality concerns and facilitates final product disposition and acceptability decisions. Evaluates the effectiveness of management and support processes across local and global sites to ensure compliance with IATF 16949, the International Management System (IMS), customer specific requirements, and applicable local and international quality standards.

Requirements

  • Requires a B.S. degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Business, or an equivalent field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in Quality Engineering or a closely related role
  • Experience should include customer interface, root cause analysis, and use of quality and reliability tools such as FTA, FMEA, SPC, sampling methods, and auditing.
  • Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of measurement systems, correlations, and key technical parameters used in wafer manufacturing processes, as well as the ability to learn and apply the company’s Quality Management System and applicable semiconductor customer and international quality standards.
  • Strong proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software is required, including experience with manufacturing information and data systems.
  • The position requires highly effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical and quality information to key customers and internal management.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers on quality related issues, and work to resolve C1s, MRBs, etc.
  • Monitor and ensure proper activities surrounding all aspects of the product including technical parameters, lot integrity, packaging, shipment preparation, labels, packing list, CofC, etc.
  • Utilize existing data and feedback systems and trace lot genealogies, with special focus on containment action.
  • Lead and facilitate root cause analysis, containment measures and solutions through Quality Task Force project management.
  • Establish internal quality projects to reduce QNs thus improving yield, on-time shipments, cycle time, variation, and operating costs.
  • Monitor and control the execution of assigned project tasks.
  • Review customer specifications and data and ensure traceability and acceptability.
  • Evaluate and prepare capability data reports for periodic presentation to customers, which may include off site visits.
  • Organize and facilitate internal and external audits.
  • Provide a leadership role in the team environment.
  • Obtain cross-site project closures, which may require international travel.
  • Communicate quality status and customer needs to the Business Unit.
  • Provide face-to-face responses to customers, requiring domestic travel.
  • Evaluate sample plans for effectiveness.
  • Provide quality training as appropriate.
