About The Position

The Quality Engineer – Level I is an early-career quality professional responsible for supporting quality assurance activities across manufacturing, inspection, and documentation processes. This role applies foundational quality principles, tools, and procedures to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System and to support consistent product quality. The Level I Quality Engineer works under general supervision, develops technical competency, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of quality assurance principles and inspection methods.
  • Ability to apply basic statistical concepts with guidance.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and follow established procedures.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical and professional skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • U.S. Citizenship or permanent residence required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Optics, or related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Typically 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or quality-related environment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing inspection or analysis tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Support the maintenance of the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by gathering documentation and supporting corrective action follow-up.
  • Follow established procedures, control plans, and work instructions to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Support Root Cause and Corrective Action (CAR) investigations using structured problem-solving tools.
  • Assist in documenting corrective actions and verification activities.
  • Escalate recurring or complex quality issues to senior quality staff.
  • Support inspection activities in accordance with defined inspection plans and acceptance criteria.
  • Assist with calibration activities and maintain awareness of calibration status for inspection equipment.
  • Support metrology activities under guidance from senior Quality Engineers.
  • Collect and organize quality data to support analysis and reporting.
  • Apply basic statistical tools to support quality investigations and improvement efforts.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities such as 6S and Lean initiatives.
  • Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining controlled quality documentation including procedures and work instructions.
  • Support the transfer of inspection or testing methods from Engineering into Manufacturing under supervision.
  • Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams to address quality issues.
  • Communicate quality findings clearly and professionally within the organization.
  • Participate in training and development activities to build technical competency.
