About The Position

The Quality Engineer I is an entry-level position supporting quality across production within an AS9100D-certified aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. Working under the direction of senior quality engineering staff and the Quality Manager, this role assists with inspection and testing, in-process audits, control plan maintenance, nonconformance documentation, and the Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes. The position focuses on learning and applying established quality processes and ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electronics, or Engineering, or equivalent technical experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience in a quality, inspection, or manufacturing role; aerospace, defense, or other regulated-industry experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and basic GD&T.
  • Familiarity with inspection methods and measuring equipment.
  • Familiarity with calibration processes and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail with solid documentation skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an AS9100- or ISO 9001-certified manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of ESD requirements and practices.
  • Exposure to electrical and electronic inspection processes.
  • Knowledge of standard battery construction and assembly.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or coursework toward a quality certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products against specifications and quality standards.
  • Supports in-process audits to ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining Quality Control Plans for production assemblies.
  • Documents nonconformances and supports the Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
  • Supports the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process.
  • Maintains quality records, inspection documentation, and calibration records within the QMS.
  • Uses measuring and test equipment to verify conformance, ensuring instruments are within calibration.
  • Assists with internal and external audit preparation and data collection.
  • Escalates quality issues and potential risks to senior quality staff and the Quality Manager.
