About The Position

This role is for a Quality Engineer I within the Technology Solutions Line of Business, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Quality Engineer I will gain experience with test automation frameworks and tools, shadow senior team members, and execute automated test suites. Adherence to quality engineering practices, documentation standards, and risk management is expected. Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of QA/QE concepts, testing methodologies, and testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with test management tools, bug tracking systems, and basic automation concepts.
  • Hands-on experience executing manual/automation test cases and logging issues.
  • Introduction to coding practices and debugging.
  • Foundational understanding of assigned project scope and business objectives.
  • Learning the bank's systems, processes, and quality standards relevant to assigned work.

  • Own assigned test execution tasks with senior resource oversight.
  • Estimate and complete simple to moderately complex testing activities.
  • Prioritize tasks according to team guidance and sprint planning.
  • Escalate issues and blockers to appropriate team members when unable to resolve independently.

  • Support team initiatives and willingly assist peers and senior resources.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-1 years of relevant QA/QE experience.
  • Strong academic foundation in software testing principles.
  • Knowledge on software development and testing practices.

  • Eagerness to learn and grow in QA/QE field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in test planning activities and execute manual test cases under guidance.
  • Learn and execute test cases from existing test suites to validate software functionality.
  • Identify and log defects clearly, assisting senior QE team members in defect analysis and resolution.
  • Perform test case design for features based on aligned requirements.
  • Support test data preparation activities.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining test environments under supervision.
  • Document environment issues and escalate blockers to team leads.
  • Gain hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and test management tools.
  • Shadow senior resources to understand automation script development best practices.
  • Execute existing automated test suites and report results.
  • Keep continuous learning goals using the automation tools.
  • Execute user stories and acceptance criteria validation alongside the development team.
  • Provide test execution feedback and participate in sprint retrospectives.
  • Report test results and defect status to the QE team lead.
  • Adhere to established quality engineering practices and project procedures as trained.
  • Follow documented testing checklists and standardized test execution processes.
  • Escalate any quality concerns, risks, or non-standard scenarios to team lead immediately.
  • Maintain clear and organized test execution logs and defect reports.
  • Follow established documentation standards for test cases and test results.
  • Support project documentation creation under senior resource direction.
  • Report identified risks, blockers, or issues promptly to the QE team lead.
  • Understand basic risk management concepts and how testing contributes to risk mitigation.
  • Actively participate as a team member, contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Communicate promptly about blockers, progress, and questions to the QE team lead.
  • Support fellow junior resources and share learnings with peers.
  • Proactively enhance testing knowledge through hands-on experience and mentorship.
  • Participate in training sessions, knowledge transfer activities, and skill development programs.
  • Ask questions and seek guidance to develop expertise in QE practices and tools.
  • Keep current on emerging testing trends and new tools relevant to the team.
  • Work with development teams following assigned processes and guidance.
  • Participate in sprint planning, sprint reviews, and team standups.
  • Provide clear updates on test execution status and blockers.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and support inclusive team environment.
