UCT is looking for a talented Quality Engineer I to join us in Scarborough, ME! The Quality Engineer plans and coordinates quality activities in conjunction with the Site Quality Head to ensure all components, processes, and products satisfy technical requirements. Provides technical assistance to site functions to resolve processing issues and promote continuous improvement. Provides advanced product quality planning and training as necessary to support the successful launch of new parts, processes, and products. Serves as the technical liaison to internal operations to effectively resolve all issues, promote quality, productivity improvements, and cost reduction.

Requirements

  • Quality-engineering review experience to focus on meeting customer requirements.
  • Statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data and identifying trends.
  • Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control. (Black Belt preferred).
  • In-depth understanding of Quality methodologies; 8D a must.
  • Quality certifications a plus (ASQ CQE, CQA, CSSGB, CSSBB).
  • Proven ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to quality and manufacturing functions.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in maintaining and improving ISO9001 System.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and Knowledge of database software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Quality Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment as a Quality Engineer. (Automotive, Aerospace, Semiconductor or Medical Manufacturing environment preferred)
  • Experience supervising Quality Auditors or Inspectors preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop & lead quality improvement projects, based on prioritizing metrics such as cost of quality, inspection data, and/or Customer quality escapes.
  • Utilize various problem-solving methods and techniques to isolate variables in order to identify the cause(s) of undesirable process results.
  • Develop solution options and propose the most effective options to optimize predictable and repeatable results.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, interpreting, analyzing, and summarizing data and present solution proposals at various forums.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Performs statistical analysis to analyze trends, and works with site functions to investigate trends, conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for processes and products.
  • Drives corrective and preventive actions, including process and product design improvements for procedural, product, or process deficiencies through the analysis of data from various sources.
  • Generates routine reports for review by management.
  • Mentors and develops Personnel to use various lean, six sigma, project management techniques and tools.
  • Provides technical advice to material review boards (MRB), evaluates discrepant material, and decides its disposition as needed.
  • Responsible for meeting/exceeding internal quality goals and objectives.
  • Key measurements of success are: Internal DPPM, as measured by in-process and final inspection. Cost of quality. Manufacturing/test cycle-time.
