In conjunction with more senior engineers, this role plans, develops, and implements techniques and programs to ensure quality levels are maintained in accordance with the organization’s quality standards. The position collaborates to establish specifications, controls, and quality metrics, including participation in reviewing and/or creating PFMEA and Control Plans. This role monitors various data sources to identify, contain, and lead resolution to process and product quality issues, and administers Material Alerts to track identified field and zero-mile issues. It also coordinates activities to implement countermeasures and track their effectiveness, and coordinates product testing and teardown with quality testing technicians, developing resulting summary reports for management, customers, and/or other stakeholders. The role researches, plans, develops, and implements continuous improvement (Kaizen) programs. Additionally, the Quality Engineer visits customers to resolve quality concerns and sort questionable product to ensure quality standards are met, investigates the root cause of quality defects at the customer and those arising from zero-mile or warranty claims, initiates and updates quality documents, maintains and updates the corrective action log and problem history, verifies and monitors corrective and preventive action effectiveness, and ensures all work areas meet 5S standards. The role follows all procedures and work instructions, makes recommendations to improve the process, and notifies leadership immediately upon detecting any non-conformances.
