About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing all Quality Control (QC) activities within their designated area of the plant on a daily basis. The technician will interact with production operators and team leads, escalating issues to Production Supervisors and the Quality Management Process Plan (QMPP) as needed. Key duties include writing ePCA's and eQA's, conducting containments and purges for quality issues, and ensuring proper completion of shop floor documentation. The position requires good product knowledge, excellent understanding of QCMS and Hold Tags, and the ability to assist in preparing for external audits. The technician will provide feedback to process and supplier quality engineers, support other QC functions, and ensure personnel adhere to proper procedures. A significant part of the role involves leading root cause investigations, collaborating with manufacturing and quality engineering, and employing problem-solving techniques for permanent corrective actions. The technician will also perform line audits, facilitate 5S improvements, and work with cross-functional teams. Safety procedures must be followed at all times. The role operates on all shifts, aligning with the manufacturing line's schedule, and requires adherence to Quality Policy, VT Rules, ESH, LEAN, and 5S principles. Familiarity with VT QMS, structured problem solving, and tools like MES/CAM/QCMS/PARTS FINDER is essential. The technician has the authority to stop production if quality requirements are not met and must initiate non-conformance management for deviations. They will also support capability checks of manufacturing equipment and assist in managing deviations and changes on the production line.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or a similar technical field, Military Maintenance Training Certification, or 1–3 years of equivalent experience as a Quality Analyzer.
  • Office software proficiency (Microsoft Office or similar tools).
  • Strong communication skills for cross‑functional coordination.
  • Ability to identify and prioritize assignments in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Understanding of production processes and quality‑related tools such as POKAYOKE, Jidoka, and defect‑handling methods.
  • Must be able to stand for periods up to 12 hours.
  • Ability to lift 28 pounds unassisted.
  • Must have the capability to push, pull, reach, twist, turn, stoop, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Familiar with VT QMS, esp. Job-related rules include production restart, PokaYoke - Jidoka, structured problem solving, etc.
  • Familiar with Tools: MES/CAM/QCMS/PARTS FINDER.
  • Excellent knowledge of QCMS and Hold Tags.
  • Advanced knowledge of IPC Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all QC activities across their area in the plant on a daily basis.

  • Ensure required shop floor documentation is properly filled out (travel tags, checklists, etc.).
  • Provide detailed pass downs with effective communication at the end of shift.
  • Ensure all QC checks/activities across their area in the plant (North/South Building) are being completed, and quality issues are properly escalated when needed.
  • Provide support to other QCs when needed, including containments, pack inspections, and sorting activities.
  • Ensure that all personnel are following the proper procedures to produce a quality product.
  • Lead root cause investigation and work with manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and production to identify areas and assist in providing resolution.
  • Communicate clearly and present data to engineering and management when needed.
  • Employ various problem-solving techniques to drive problems to permanent corrective action.
  • Audit production documents and revise as needed.
  • Perform random line audits and inspections and follow up on non-conformances if any found.
  • Act as 5S Area Leader, facilitating 5S improvements in the area.
  • Work together with cross-functional teams when solving quality-related issues.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Comply with ESH, LEAN and 5S rules, etc.
  • Ensure approach of structure problem solving in Shopfloor area, by coaching of SPS basics.
  • Support in projects to improve the quality performance in manufacturing line.
  • Ensure quality by authority to stop production line in case quality requirements are not fulfilled and ensure corrective actions be defined and verified.
  • Initiate non-conformance management in case of deviation (incl. sorting, Block Stock of parts, etc.).
  • Ensure quality by regular check of production documentation (e.g. Jidoka, Scrap).
  • Ensure quality by authority to restart the line once root cause of problem got identified and contained.
  • Support capability check of manufacturing equipment during line release phase like cross section, capability report collection, hardness measurement, process quality parameter collection, etc.
