The Quality Coordinator has responsibility for the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement and patient safety activities for a designated quality collaborative/registry. The Michigan Spine Surgery Improvement Collaborative (MSSIC) is a statewide quality improvement collaborative funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan/Blue Care Network involving neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons across the state of Michigan with the aim of improving the quality of care of spine surgery. The objective of this collaborative is to heighten patient care outcomes while consequently increasing efficiency of treatment. The MSSIC Quality Coordinator is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting clinical data elements for cases eligible for inclusion in the MSSIC data registry. Through application of clinical knowledge and analysis of MSSIC registry date, the position is also required to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other special projects as requested by the MSSIC Coordinating Center. The Quality Coordinator will work collaboratively with fellow team members and with physicians, nurses, other clinicians and administrators to develop quality improvement strategies for spine surgery.
