About The Position

Inspect and function test industrial control panels against electrical and dimensional drawings prior to shipment. Panels include Variable Frequency Drive, Soft Start and custom control panels using Programmable Logic Controllers or relay logic, built to UL 508A requirements. We hire at entry level through senior level; placement on our QC pay ladder is based on demonstrated skills and experience, with a defined advancement path.

Requirements

Knowledge of AC and DC circuits and ability to read electrical and dimensional drawings (skill level determines placement in the pay range)
Understanding of relays, relay logic and cause and effect
Understanding of electrical safety practices and arc flash risk
Computer skills, including Microsoft Windows, Excel, Outlook and Word
Must be able to accurately distinguish colors, including wire and cable color coding
Must be able to read a tape measure
Must be detail-oriented with accurate paperwork
Must practice good/safe housekeeping
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Work is in an industrial area and involves manual labor
Candidates must be able to bend/lift 50lbs and stand for extended periods
Must comply with PPE requirements
Most of the work is at our Tulsa facility but light travel is expected on occasion
This position is designated as safety-sensitive under applicable Oklahoma law. Employees in safety-sensitive positions are subject to drug and alcohol testing, and the lawful use of medical marijuana does not exempt an employee from testing or from employment action based on a positive test result.
Must be able to pass a 7 year background check.
We also conduct pre-employment drug testing. Any job offer will be based on the results of the background check and drug test.

Nice To Haves

PLC experience: flashing, navigation and troubleshooting
First article inspection and test plan development experience
Working knowledge of UL 508A; UL 508A MTR certification
Experience with UL 1640, UL 891, UL 1203 and UL 691 listed products
ASQ certification
2- or 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechatronics
Previous QC, panel building or electrical testing experience; formal technical training

Responsibilities

Inspect control panels against electrical schematics and dimensional drawings.
Verify component selection including coil voltages, wire/cable gauges and torque requirements.
Perform torque verification using calibrated torque wrenches and verify grounding and bonding connections.
Perform 100% function testing of control panels, including relay logic verification and cause and effect operation.
Flash and navigate Unitronics PLCs, and customer PLCs using provided documentation.
Troubleshoot mechanical and wiring issues.
Identify and document non-conformances.
Document inspection and test results accurately and completely in the QC database.
Contribute to continuous improvement in quality.
At senior level: test first articles, develop test plans, disposition non-conforming material and train junior technicians.
