About The Position

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Quality Control Technician within the Orica Digital Solutions team. The Quality Control Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness and performance of Axis Mining Technology’s suite of precision instruments and systems. This includes calibration, inspection, maintenance, and quality control of products prior to deployment and upon return. The role supports the technical reliability and data integrity of all field-deployed equipment and ensures our solutions meet the highest standards of accuracy and functionality.

Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience in a technical role involving computer hardware, instrumentation, survey equipment, with a strong focus on troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Post-secondary diploma in a technical field – an asset.
  • Industry Background: Experience or education in Geoscience, Surveying, Engineering, Mining, Oil & Gas, or a related technical field.
  • Technology Implementation: Proven ability to install, configure, and support both software and hardware technologies, particularly in a field or industrial setting.
  • Software Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiar with data acquisition or diagnostic software.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in quality control and calibration activities, with a focus on compliance and precision.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and producing clear documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem Solving: Resourceful and methodical in diagnosing and resolving technical issues, with a proactive mindset.
  • Industry Background: Experience or education in Geoscience, Surveying, Engineering, Mining, Oil & Gas, or a related technical field.
  • Equipment Familiarity: Knowledge of downhole survey tools, gyroscopic instruments, or directional drilling technology.
  • Inventory and Logistics: Experience with stock tracking systems and warehouse or shipping operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual proficiency, particularly in French – an asset for supporting multilingual teams or clients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre- and post-deployment data and hardware quality control for all instruments and components.
  • Conduct routine calibrations and precision checks on downhole survey instruments.
  • Maintain and update tablets, phones, laptops, and other devices associated with Axis systems.
  • Draft standard operating procedures and internal technical documentation.
  • Ensure the warehouse and office space are kept organized, and compliant with operational protocols.
  • Assist in packing, shipping, and dispatching products for field operations.
  • Conduct routine stock inventory checks and assist with inventory management.
  • Clean and perform light maintenance on Axis products and components.
  • Carry out additional tasks as directed by management to support operational needs.
