About The Position

Rogers Group, Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Technician based in Dayton, TN, to support their East TN operations. This role requires experience in asphalt quality control and involves a variety of quality control efforts, including testing materials to ensure compliance with specifications, providing technical support, and ensuring compliance with environmental agencies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of chemical analysis, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain control charts and other required records. Enthusiasm and an uncompromising emphasis on safety are essential.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of aggregate testing procedures including gradations, XRF/chemistry testing, crushed count, deleterious count, basic geological knowledge
  • Ability to problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds continuously throughout the day
  • Basic mechanical/repair skills
  • Basic math and computing/technology skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work on a team
  • Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision
  • Operate testing equipment and company vehicles in a responsible and safe manner
  • Perform daily housekeeping operations and maintain a clean lab environment

Responsibilities

  • Test selection of materials produced to ascertain production of quality materials in an effective and cost-efficient manner.
  • Monitor production and certify test results for use in contract procurement or completion of job quality requirements.
  • Maintain control charts and other records required.
  • Computer and data entry skills required.
  • Skilled in operating quality control lab equipment and testing materials.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of aggregate testing procedures including gradations, XRF/chemistry testing, crushed count, deleterious count, basic geological knowledge.
