The position oversees for the quality control inspection team in the TAP manufacturing area by performing the following duties. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a production environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer knowledge such as but not limited to Microsoft products and Axapta.
  • Experience with Quality in an R&D / New Product Development Environment.
  • Strong ability to work well in a group atmosphere and comply with high quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills all regular production duties and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Oversees a team of employees and prioritizes work.
  • Primary responsibilities include training and instructing inspectors how to properly inspect parts.
  • Organizes and trains employees to complete products within established guidelines and time frames.
  • Ensures management needs are met and maintained.
  • Communicates customer, regulatory and organizational requirements to assure product quality, contract compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Assists with managing implemented quality systems.
  • Identify non-conformances through specified inspection methods.
  • Ability to perform extremely detailed visual inspections on intricate and delicate parts occasionally performed under microscopes.
  • Measurement metrics are reported to keep track of efficiency and quality.
  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
