About The Position

In the QC Supervisor role you will be responsible for and lead a team of inspectors that performs visual, dimensional, weld, and other non-destructive inspections on products and parts at various stages of the production process. You will prioritize and coordinate work, drive completion dates and hours charged, as well as process improvements. The ideal candidate is fluent in weld inspections, dimensional inspections, surface finish inspections, and documenting and interpreting the results of the inspections against the requirements of applicable specifications or codes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in metal fabrication, i.e. welding and/or machining.
  • 3+ years of experience in supervisory, project management or coordination role.
  • Able to become proficient and qualified in methods listed below:
  • Visual Weld Inspection (AWS CWI or SNT-TC-1A VT II)
  • Dimensional Inspection (CMM Operator, GD & T and other metrology tools)
  • Leak and Pressure Testing (Pneumatic, Hydrostatic, Pressure Change, and Mass Spectrometer)
  • Must be proficient in GD&T, and interpretation of drawings and specifications.
  • Must have a working understanding of different types of quality documentation an inspection reports.
  • Must be proficient using computers and using standard office products. (Word, Excel)
  • Can pass a Visual Acuity with or without correction to Jaeger J1. (Includes color blindness exam)
  • Can use hand-held measurement tools - calipers, micrometers, bore gages, steel rule, tape measure, etc.
  • MUST BE A US CITIZEN - In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 7 years minimum experience performing inspection activities.
  • May become certified in various NDE methods as required for various inspection activities
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or SNT-TC-1A NDE Visual Testing Level II (VTII)
  • SNT-TC-1A NDE LEAK TESTING Level II in either Pressure Change or Mass Spectrometer.
  • GD&T Training and Demonstrated Ability in CMM Operation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate closely with Fabrication Manager, Project Managers and Other ATG personnel to determine, prioritize, and schedule inspection requirements.
  • Create and maintain a 4 week look ahead of inspection activities. Prioritize and assign personnel to critical inspection activities and follow up to ensure completion and verify correct documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify appropriate solutions when scheduling conflicts arise.
  • Drive timely resolution of failed inspections. Coordinate with project team to determine actions and path forward. Facilitate regular NCR meetings to address issues and actions needed.
  • Evaluate data and reports to verify accuracy and compliance with customer requirements and our NQA-1 program.
  • May, at times, operate various inspection equipment, document and interpret results against specifications and requirements.
  • Maintain inspection process equipment and documentation to be in compliance with the NQA-1 Quality System requirements.
  • Mentor and train other team members to establish cross-functional capabilities and eliminate single points of failure.
  • Evaluate and assess QC team for key skills. Identify and correct knowledge and skills gaps.
  • Coordinates maintenance and continuity of qualifications and certifications for inspection and test personnel.
  • May be trained as a Quality System auditor.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
