About The Position

Sharecare is a digital healthcare company that provides software and technology-enabled services across the healthcare ecosystem. The Quality Control Specialist reviews electronic medical records and performs quality control on each record to ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements. The role requires strong attention to detail and consistent production of quality work.

Requirements

At least 6 months of previous experience in a medical record setting.
Pass an industry-related course and exam within six months of hire.
High attention to detail.
Strong time management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
High reliability and productivity.
Computer literacy, including the ability to use MS Outlook and other Windows-based programs.
Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Review electronic records for HIPAA compliance and compliance with request and authorization limits.
Review documents and determine whether medical records may legally be released under HIPAA rules and regulations.
Communicate questions and issues to the Lead or Supervisor.
Mentor new employees.
Adhere to state and federal laws for Release of Information (ROI).
Maintain the privacy of patient, employee, and volunteer information and access it only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes.
Comply with regulations concerning corporate integrity and security obligations.
Report unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful behavior or activity.
Maintain current yearly HIPAA certification.
Understand and follow the organization’s information governance program, role requirements, policies, procedures, and processes.
Discuss questions, process recommendations, and observed variations to support standardized work and services.
Participate in education required for corporate compliance and role-specific functions and tasks.
