About The Position

The position implements testing and inspection procedures to verify that products meet established standards at certain stages of manufacturing and at their completion. Quality control (QC) procedures and tests encompass various phases of operations from receipt of raw materials through the manufacturing process to testing and inspecting finished products.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated management or supervisory experience.
  • 3 years of related experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret production drawings.
  • Familiar with ACI, ASTM, and NPCA ACPA manuals and procedures.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Email, Spreadsheet, Word Processor).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Quality Control (QC) Department and ensure that employees are following established standards and mirroring the National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) And (ACPA American Concrete Pipe Association) QC Manual.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, plans, assigns, and directs work; motivates, coaches, evaluates, rewards and disciplines employees.
  • Interfaces with Human Resources, Quality Director, and the General Manager regarding employee performance related issues and address each situation appropriately.
  • Adheres to the Cardinal Rule of Conduct and holds others accountable to the policy.
  • Develops, implements and maintains continuous improvements that support manufacturing with the highest quality in mind and meets the customers' needs.
  • Updates and makes appropriate changes to the Quality Control Manual for improvement purposes based on updates from NPCA & ACPA standards or direction from Plant Management.
  • Make recommendations for better quality products.
  • Verifies that identification tags are created for daily pre-pour inspections, that the inspections are documented and performed in accordance with inspection procedures, and that the completion of the inspections is recorded on the identification tags.
  • Verifies that inspections for rebar cages have been performed for proper placement based on specifications and production drawings and that block outs, inserts, knockouts, pulling irons, ground rod holes and any other addition required after set-up are installed prior to concrete pours.
  • Initiates and reviews evaluation and disposition reports, product form inspection reports, pre-pour /post-pour inspection reports and scrap reports, and works with Plant Management to affirm that products are being manufactured in accordance with drawings and specifications and processes are followed to achieve high quality products.
  • Verifies concrete is sampled and tested for its slump, air content, temperature, and unit weight daily, and that test results are recorded on appropriate paper forms.
  • Verifies that post-pour inspections are performed, and findings are recorded on appropriate paper inspection forms.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment, returns all tools after use to proper storage location, and performs routine housekeeping (i.e.: cleaning, organizing).
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Identifies unsafe working conditions and takes immediate action to correct the hazards.
  • Notifies the appropriate teams of nonconformance issues identified during inspections and helps develop corrective action plans.
  • Partners with management to ensure concrete designs are properly documented and comply with applicable standards and job specifications, including tolerances for temperature, slump, slump flow, unit weight, and entrained air content.
  • Works with production foremen, supervisors, and managers to correct workmanship issues before additional products are produced.
