About The Position

The primary role of the Quality Control Manager is to lead and manage all quality control activities to ensure products consistently meet customer requirements, engineering specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the inspection, testing, measurement, and calibration programs, while providing leadership to Quality Control Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors. This position partners closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance to drive product conformance, reduce defects, improve quality performance, and support organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, Industrial Technology, or related field (Required)
  • 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing quality control, inspection, or testing environments (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience (Required)
  • Experience managing incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities (Required)
  • Experience developing inspection plans, testing procedures, and acceptance criteria (Required)
  • Experience with nonconforming material control, containment, and disposition processes (Required)
  • Experience managing calibration systems and inspection equipment (Required)
  • Knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, inspection methods, and quality control techniques (Required)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
  • Ability to interpret electro-mechanical diagrams including front elevation, one-line, manufacturing, and schematic drawings

  • Proficiency with inspection equipment and measurement tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and quality reporting systems

  • Experience with first article inspections (FAI), validation activities, and production quality verification (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication and manufacturing processes (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment manufacturing, installation, and testing (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of warehouse inventory management and receiving inspection processes (Preferred)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), or equivalent certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Quality Control department, including Quality Control Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors.
  • Establish quality control objectives, performance metrics, and departmental goals aligned with company objectives.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, training, and performance management for quality control personnel.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, training, and resources are available to support production and customer requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection programs.
  • Review and approve inspection plans, testing procedures, acceptance criteria, and quality control methods.
  • Ensure inspection activities are conducted consistently and in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Oversee first article inspection (FAI), validation testing, and product verification activities.
  • Ensure products are evaluated against engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Review and approve nonconforming material dispositions, containment plans, and corrective actions.
  • Lead investigations related to product defects, quality escapes, and recurring nonconformance issues.
  • Escalate significant quality issues and coordinate resolution with cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee calibration programs for inspection, measurement, and testing equipment.
  • Ensure measurement systems are capable, accurate, and compliant with applicable requirements.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of quality control processes and measurement systems.
  • Monitor and report quality control metrics including defects, scrap, rework, first-pass yield, and inspection effectiveness.
  • Review quality trends and implement improvement initiatives to reduce quality-related costs and production disruptions.
  • Provide regular quality performance reports to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to improve product quality and process effectiveness.
  • Participate in design reviews, process validations, and production readiness activities.
  • Support customer audits, inspections, and quality-related inquiries.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for product quality control issues.
  • Drive improvements in inspection methods, testing processes, measurement systems, and product verification activities.
  • Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing and defect reduction initiatives.
  • Directly supervises Quality Engineers and other assigned Quality Department personnel.
  • Responsible for employee selection, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and professional development.
  • Provides leadership and direction for quality initiatives across all manufacturing facilities.
